TRIBUTE TO MILANO CAPSULE REVIEW
Released along the excellent Tribute to Palermo capsule as a limited edition homage to Italian coffees, this tribute to the city of Milan isn’t as convincing as its counterpart. With an intensity of 9 out of 13, Milano somewhat lacks personality – by this I mean initial flavor and body – mostly focusing on a slightly salty aftertaste experience. To Nespresso’s credit, finding the right balance with a split roast is a more daunting task and while I didn’t enjoy it as much as Palermo, it still provides a decent coffee break.
COFFEE PAIRING
- Activities: Because its strength and flavor are more subdued, you can start your day with Milano if you want to be wake up gently and follow up with a couple more cups throughout your morning to take the time to pay more attention to it.
- Music: When it comes to music, I’ll still stick to Italian themes for that one but rather than inflicting you pain with wannabe metal bands, I’m recommending the old school Italian New Wave group Liftiba, which is to Italy what Heroes del Silencio are to Spain – and Latin America.
- Food: Because it doesn’t have such a strong taste, you can pair it with sweet bread or biscotti if you want to maximize your Italian-style experience.
PACKAGING
The box is similar to Tribute to Palermo’s, a Cyan font substituting to Palermo’s red (see picture of the right_. The packaging features the same attention to detail, including a stamp, but I’ll have the same complain I had with Palermo, wondering why an Italian-themed coffee features some French text “hommage à”, rather than Italian words?
